Birmingham Facility To House Landing Gear Repair and Overhaul Facility

CLEVELAND, OHIO — July 9, 2012 – Constant Aviation, LLC, a maintenance, repair, and overhaul facility, announced the opening of a new landing gear repair and overhaul facility at their Birmingham, AL location. The facility will begin servicing Beechjet 400A/XP landing gear and expand to include two other niche aircraft Embraer Legacy 600 and the Hawker 800A/XP in the coming months.

“To stay in line with our long-term goal to become a premier full service MRO, our next step was to launch a landing gear repair and overhaul facility within our service center network. We performed a business evaluation last year, which looked at our capabilities and highlighted possible expansion opportunities. It is our 2012 strategy to continue the expansion on our accessory offerings for our niche airframes. There was an initial investment of approximately $500,000 in tooling, equipment and inventory. The facility is fully functional and delivered their first set of overhauled landing gear late in June. During the product development period, the initial investment was an important step to being a facility capable of offering a complete program of options including exchanges, repairs and loaners in addition to our overhaul capability. With the recent expansion at our Cleveland facility, including a 25,000 sq. foot interior modification and refurbishment facility as well as a new Beechjet Thrust Reverser exchange, loaner and repair program, we felt it was important to build off that momentum building our accessory support at our other facilities,” said Stephen Maiden, President Constant Aviation.

Constant Aviation has hired Robert Martin to manage this new product line. Robert comes to Constant from Lockheed Martin where he was the Completions Supervisor. Prior to that Robert was with Hawker Beechcraft Services where he launched, built and managed their landing gear shop.

“Having Robert join our team, as the Landing Gear Facility Manager, gives the program the credibility and experience necessary to offer world-class service and support. His knowledge of building and managing a landing gear shop in the past will allow this program to hit the ground running with minimal build up time,” continued Maiden.
