• Employees Donate Over $10,000 Each Year for the Adopt-A-Family Program
  • For 7th Consecutive Year, Employees Spend Months Raising Money to Buy Gifts for Families Living Through Difficult Cancer Diagnoses and Treatments
  • Company Volunteers Personally Deliver Gifts to Families
  • CLEVELAND, OHIO, December 14, 2021 – Each year employees at Constant Aviation, and its Nextant Aerospace division, raise money for families through the University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center Adopt-A-Family program. This year, the company’s seventh consecutive, one family’s story is particularly powerful. Two children, a pre-teen and a teenager, who already lost their mother to a health crisis, are now faced with the challenge of their father’s cancer diagnosis and treatment. The employees at Constant are working diligently to raise money to fulfill the teens’ holiday wish lists that will communicate a kind of community hug.

It’s stories like these, that continue to motivate the company to plan multiple fundraisers throughout the year including fantasy football squares, raffles, a chili cook-off and the biggest one – a silent auction. Each year, Constant and Nextant employees have raised over $10,000 to provide multiple families some holiday joy in one of the most difficult times of their lives. It’s an opportunity to celebrate together and offer a much-needed reprieve from the many daily stresses of living with cancer diagnoses.

“Beyond the heartache that clouds what should be a wonderful time of the year, many families also face financial constraints that make a traditional celebration impossible,” said Constant Aviation CEO David H. Davies. “Through the Adopt-A-Family program, we hope to brighten these families’ holidays even if it’s just a small gesture.”

Under the Adopt-A-Family program, Seidman Cancer Center provides Constant Aviation with a list of families and their Christmas wishes and interests. Gifts typically include clothing, toys, gift cards, experiences such as concerts or vacations – even a new kitchen table, which Constant’s aircraft interior refurbishment team built for one family to gather around.

“Adopt-A-Family through Constant Aviation has helped the patients of Seidman Cancer Center see a light,” said Laura Wheaton of the Seidman Cancer Center’s Department of Hematology Oncology. “Even with the darkest of times such as a cancer diagnosis, these volunteers have stepped up and stepped in to show them that there is still good in the world. This has been a last Christmas for some families, and this gives a memory for the survivors to hold on to of their loved ones. It is a humbling experience to witness and be a part of.”

Constant and Nextant employees lead the program by organizing fundraisers, donations and even purchasing gifts. When the hard work is complete, the team holds a fun gift-wrapping party where they add the finishing touches to each present. In 2019, families were invited to the Constant Aviation facility in Cleveland with a personalized party space decked with holiday trees, ornaments, and cozy faux fireplaces. Last year over $15,000 was raised for gifts and due to COVID restrictions, employees delivered all of them straight to family’s homes.

“To know someone else is being taken care of when things are not so good in their lives is very important to me,” said Bobbi Phenicie, Constant Aviation Procurement and Business Coordinator. “To know you made someone’s heart smile is why it’s so important to me.”

In addition to the Adopt-A-Family program in Cleveland, the Constant Aviation team at Orlando Sanford International Airport (ICAO: KSFB) is partnering for the second consecutive year with the United States Marine Corps for its annual “Toys for Tots” toy drive.
